ALISON TODD, CHILDREN 1ST
Alison’s career started in community education, supporting vulnerable children and young people. In 2001, she joined ChildLine as counselling manager in Scotland, then Assistant Director for ChildLine/NSPCC for North England. Alison joined CHILDREN 1ST in 2009. Before being appointed as Chief Executive in 2014, she was Director of Children & Families, as well as leading the public policy and communications functions. She has a BSc Honours in Social Sciences and a postgraduate qualification in child protection.
CARLA VALENTIN, AVRO
Before starting her own independent media&culture business Valentin&Meer, Carla was six years Chief Editor of a leading Culture TV and radio programme called 'Opium' and Chief Editor of KunstUur, a prominent TV Art Magazine, both of which are broadcasted by the AVRO. Carla began her career as a journalist, and spent 15 years as Editor in Chief at Dutch broadcasting company the VARA, responsible for several Radio & Television news and information programmes, managing mainly live culture and debating programmes presented by famous Dutch anchors.
RICHARD DIXON, FRIENDS OF THE EARTH SCOTLAND
Richard has a BSc and PhD in Astrophysics, and an MSc in Energy Systems and Environment Management from Glasgow Caledonian University. Before joining Friends of the Earth Scotland, he led WWF Scotland for 7 years, working on energy, climate, transport and consumption issues. Prior to this he worked for Community Service Volunteers and Strathclyde Regional Council, and was previously Head of Research at Friends of the Earth Scotland.
